European Carriers Aren?t Digging Nokia?s Lumia Line

Screen shot 2012-04-17 at 9.18.31 AMNokia hasn’t had the best year. Of course, the launch of the Lumia line has been refreshing, as Nokia’s much-anticipated Windows Powered offerings are finally out in the world, trying to woo owners like neon-colored puppies in a pet shop window. The only problem is that four of the major wireless operators in Europe have deemed Nokia’s WP phones “not good enough to compete with Apple’s iPhone or Samsung’s Galaxy phones,” according to Reuters.

Are You Anxious About High Blood Pressure Levels – Fit Healthy Well

April 17th, 2012 by author

One of the most common health problems people face is high blood pressure levels and it?s highly likely you are at risk for it. There are a lot of daily habits which you might not even know about yet that can cause your blood pressure to elevate. Being overweight is one of the top reasons why many people get blood pressure that is higher. It?s vital that you check your blood pressure often and if it goes above 120/80 you should start doing things to help keep it in check.

Altering your eating habits to better foods and getting on an exercise plan can do you a lot of good. You can reduce your blood pressure just by shedding ten pounds. Even if your diet is fairly good, not ever being physically active can cause you to gain pounds and will raise your blood pressure. You should have some type of physical activity in your daily life?particularly if your blood pressure starts to creep upwards. Even a routine that?s just 30 minutes a day will do your body wonders and lower your blood pressure.

If you?ve got any concerns about your health, you have to eat healthier foods. If you are unhealthy and have hypertension, it is usually associated with the foods that you actually eat. Actually, we went back and forth about what would be best to discuss on the topic of super foods.

There is a limited amount of space in any one article, but of course we have written more about this which is available on our site.

But that is all right because what is best for you is to do more searching on your own for added content.

So do not think what you are doing is in vain or somehow is not important. There are always options, and the path to finding the best ones is through accurate content. If you wish to lower your blood pressure your diet must include more vegetables and fruits and less salt or sodium. You could also increase your risk of hypertension by using tobacco products so if you currently use them, you?ll want to quit straightaway. When people start smoking cigarettes, most of them probably never even consider that it can cause high blood pressure, or even check it on a regular basis to see how it is doing. The terrible news is that an elevated blood pressure level could be due to any number of bad lifestyle choices.

Yet another factor that could be the biggest contributor to high BP is stress. Everybody has pressures that they have to deal with and these pressures generally cause stress, which everybody deals with in a different way. Some individuals drink alcohol, other people smoke, other people eat, etc to help deal with the stress they feel. While it possibly feels fine in the short term, even good, but over the long term, this can result in hypertension. If you are younger, you most likely believe there isn?t anything that can impact your health and that you have plenty of time to get on track but ultimately you will wish that you had done things differently. Sometimes your lifestyle choices will cause diseases that will relate to high blood pressure and at that point you will feel sorry about those lifestyle choices.

You can start by looking at the elderly people you know and compare their health with the lifestyles they?ve led. Look for individuals whose health you?d like for yourself and ask what they did to get that health. It?s crucial, though, that you find somebody who does not need to depend on prescription medication to keep their blood pressure low.

Discover Magnificent Mantas While Scuba Diving In The Maldives

Warm crystal clear waters and colourful coral reefs are enough to tempt any traveller to go scuba diving in the Maldives but the opportunity to swim alongside magnificent manta rays should not be missed.

The Indian Ocean waters are home to hundreds of manta rays and between the months of May and November, depending on the tides, the beautiful creatures head to Hanifaru Bay, a lagoon near an uninhabited island in the Maldives, for a feeding frenzy.

The manta rays are drawn to the bay when the lunar tide pushes against the monsoon current creating a suction effect which swirls plankton and krill to the ocean surface.

British marine biologist, Guy Stevens, has been researching manta rays in the Maldives for a number of years. He explained: “Just after high tide you’ll see a few manta rays turn up. Then poof, a whole group will move in, and you’ll get as many as 200 feeding for two to four hours in a bay no bigger than a soccer field.”

The spot is a popular location for diving with manta rays but Stevens is concerned that the waters could become overcrowded, causing lasting damage to the bay and its marine life.

“Word is out that Hanifaru is a top manta spot,” he explained, “and although the government has declared the bay a ‘protected area, we still don’t have any regulations in force to limit the number of divers and snorkellers who can swim at any one time.”

During feeding time, the mantas often stay close to the surface enabling people snorkelling or scuba diving in the Maldives to get close to the creatures. The mantas are often joined by other rays and giant whale sharks who have come to feed on the plankton.
However, despite providing the perfect diving sites for travellers and scuba divers, Stevens is concerned that without regulations, the crowded waters could drive mantas out of the area and is has proposed turning the bay into a marine sanctuary.

Progress has been slow but Maldives Environment Minister Mohamed Aslam said: “I’m not ruling out declaring Hanifaru a marine-life sanctuary. But we need to increase our ability to enforce existing environmental laws before creating new protected areas.”

Canon ‘examining countermeasures’ for 5D Mark IIIs experiencing top LCD light leak problem

Image

Looks like the honeymoon period with Canon’s beastly 5D Mark III is officially over. Over the past few weeks some users have noticed that light leaking from its top-mounted LCD can affect exposure readouts, and now the company has confirmed that it’s indeed an issue. Essentially, the camera’s meter can experience a shift in the readout whenever the LCD’s backlight turns on in a dark situation — ensuring frustration when composing shots. There’s no word on how wide-spread the problem currently is, but Canon notes that it’s “examining the countermeasures” and plans to circle back once it has a solution. Interestingly, PetaPixel also reports that some folks have experienced the phenomenon when ambient light beams down on the panel as well. This isn’t the first time Canon’s had an issue with a shooter after its release, but hopefully a fix will be in soon. You’ll find more details at the links below, but while you’re here, let us know if you’ve got a Mark III showcasing the symptoms in the comments.

From the Editor’s Desk: The alternative Android dictionary

Alternative Android Dictionary

?One of our greatest features at Android Central is the Android Dictionary, an ever-evolving list of frequently used terms. But did you know there's a second, secret blogging dictionary? He's a peek inside:

  • Benchmarks: A great way to confuse folks over which phone is "better" while simultaneously generating page views. Winning!
  • [Brackets]: Used to explain a headline that's not particularly good. Often used to point out that something is supposed to be [funny] or [humor] — and chances are it's neither.
  • BREAKING NEWS!!!: The kind of news that just happened!!! And is important!!! Really important!!! So important all capital letters and exclamation marks are probably warranted!!! Also a great way to sex up a story without having to write a good headline.
  • Coming soon: We actually have no friggin' idea when it's coming. But if we say "coming soon," it makes it look like we know when it's coming. We're mysterious like that.
  • Developing …: Putting this at the end of a post makes it look like we're doing important investigative work when really we're finishing an Angry Birds level or two.
  • Exclusive: Someone sent us something. We saved it, watermarked it and put it on a webpage, then spent the rest of the day crowing about it in IRC. (Alt. definition: Actual hard work put into an original story.)
  • Fragmentation: A story to be written quarterly reminding people you really don't understand how Android works as a platform.
  • Imminent: Really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really soon. Maybe. (See Coming soon.)
  • Nexus: Better.
  • Official: Used in headlines to point out that a story is different than the endless miles of published crap that has no chance of ever coming true.
  • Patent stories: A great way to show that 99 percent of us are not and never should be a lawyer.
  • Reached out: A flouncy way of saying you took 15 seconds out of your otherwise busy reblogging day to send a single e-mail. And, no, you didn't wait for a response before publishing.
  • Rooted: Better.
  • Stock: Better.
  • Tip @techmeme: A great way to let the tech community know you successfully rewrote a press release. Good job!
  • Unboxing: Wherein we pretend to be surprised to find a phone, earbuds, cable, charger and documentation inside a box from a carrier or manufacturer. Usually recorded on video and presented in grand fashion. May include schoolgirl-like giggling.
  • Watermark: A site's logo placed on top of its images to remind folks that they're visiting the site that they're visiting. A watermark's size should in no way be used to determine a site's importance. (But if you were to do so, the formula is W [HxW] x [number of writers2] x [number of improperly labeled exclusives])

That's just a snippet of how things really work on the Internets. Hope you enjoyed this peek behind the curtain.

INDIO, CaliforniaRadiohead brought their huge sound and eye-candy backdrop to the Coachella festival’s polo fields Saturday night in a fairly mellow set, heavy with cuts from their latest offering, The King of Limbs.

Amidst their newest tracks — including “Morning Mr Magpie,” “Lotus Flower” and “Give Up the Ghost” — the British rock icons sprinkled tunes spanning much of their catalog, from Kid A rave-up “Idioteque” to In Rainbows’ “Bodysnatchers” and “15 Step.”

Of “Karma Police,” their first classic selection of the night, singer Thom Yorke said, “You know those people who are only talking to you because they want something from you? You need to take a cold shower afterwards.”

Radiohead, who last graced the polo fields in 2004, are also headlining Bonnaroo in June.

The fivesome answered calls for an encore with longtime fan favorite “Lucky,” “Reckoner” and the alternately soaring and intense “Paranoid Android.”

Coachella’s second day also featured Bon Iver, David Guetta, the Shins and A$AP Rocky.

In response to last year’s event selling out — a week after the 2011 lineup was announced — the festival is experimenting with hosting the same artists for two consecutive three-day weekends: April 13-15 and April 20-22.

The Black Keys, Swedish House Mafia and Pulp rocked Friday’s chilly opening day. Today’s (April 15) third and final day brings Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg (rumored to contain an appearance by the late Nate Dogg as a hologram), Florence and the Machine, Justice, Calvin Harris and the reunited At the Drive-In.
